Who doesn’t like a bag that can stand on its own? Get it! I am guilty of laughing at my own jokes. Seriously, nothing speaks business like a structured purse or tote. Although some bags are strong enough to stand as the main feature, they are an accessory. This accessory, however; is an asset
It stands faithful by your side time and time again, which makes it your premier go to. You can add your pop of color or you can keep it corporate in a dark shades. Whatever your preference, you want to keep it sleek and with few embellishments. The great news is, you do not have to spend a whole lot for a wonderfully styled bag. You can find great deals on bags that are as sleek as their lux counterparts. If you shop right, you can get a couple in different colors to increase your Moxie. Style and structure rule this season, so keep it classy. Here are a few of my favorites:

We're so excited to announce our official launch taking place in Atlanta on Saturday, August 16th! We have some special guests joining us as we sip on our mocktails, light bites and of course, shopping with our friends at Ann Taylor!
You are cordially invited so RSVP so we'll have an accurate headcount and click here to read our official announcement! Cosmopolitan Attire stated on an invitation can be confusing. What is meant by Cosmopolitan Attire? The answer: something fashionable, something trendy, and something classic.
For instance, the LBD above can be worn at work along with the pop of color blazer (all shades of pink is the trending color). With the structured handbag and accessories, you have a polished look for work. For the event after work, you just have to remove the blazer and switch out the handbag, and you have a very cosmopolitan look. You can keep the structured handbag and the look will be just as cosmo. A few things to keep in mind when you are dressing for a cosmopolitan event; you have to be aware of all the latest trends because you are adding fashionable pieces to a classic piece. You must be knowledgeable about trending colors, accessories, textures, and trends. Classic pieces that should always be in your wardrobe are: an LBD, pencil skirt, pointed toe flats, dark pants whether pencil or straight leg, classic black pumps, and a trench coat. These can all be dressed up or down according to the occasion. So Moxie! This faux leather trim pencil skirt is the business! Pose not included, but definitely suggested. This Trench Dress can pull double duty. It's a very strong look on it's own, but with a long sleeve tee, jeans, and stiletto; you have a more casual look!
This is a great interview suit for a professional traditional office. Dark colors with a crisp shirt are always the safe route. To wear pantyhose or not to wear pantyhose, that is the question. I would advise that you wear pantyhose. This is an interview. They should be sheer and match the hem. Hem, hose, and shoes should match. There are always other options, but not many when you are interviewing. Jewelry should be minimal and nails should be neutral. Hair should be neat and clean. I always get questions about natural hair. Natural is just as professional as relaxed hair. Be yourself. Make-up should be minimal and perfume should not be overbearing. This look is for the Moxie career seeker.
So, you work in a somewhat casual environment and face the delimma of wanting to be taken seriously and not standing out. Well, you should stand out, but in all the right ways.
The ensemble below will show off your brilliant understanding of office casz. A strong neutral gray slim fit pant with a flowy fabric that avoids the dreaded cling. This type of material flows over your curves and will hide any bouts of bloat, not that you have it, but just to let you know. A light colored blazer like the one here, will add that extra polish that announces your destination is to the corner office. You can get this look with: A neutral colored slim fit pant A soft colored flowy blouse A neutral blazer that is just a tad bit softer in color than the blouse A nice pair of pumps A nice tote or bag Have any ideas to make this a little more Moxie? This is the perfect professional outfit for a distinguished professional woman. If you have a business meeting, but want to show off your style, then this is the outfit for you. Now before you ask the price, just remember, this is inspiration!
Important, you should already have a staple such as a black pencil skirt. If you do not have one, get one. A black pencil skirt is extremely versatile. You can dress it up or down according to the occasion. How to pull it off: Black skirt (pencil or whatever style flatters your figure) White or blush crew neck blouse Black pumps Accessories with a gold finish A structured purse or tote to add a pop of color (your choice) Do you think I nailed it? Show me how you would add your Moxie to this look! Can you say sharp as a tack? Ouch! This is sharp. For those that aspire to always look as put together as they are powerful, the red accent definitely makes the statement. You will rule the boardroom or the podium, whichever the day has in store. Your confidence will be apparent to all those who you pass in the walkways knowing, that they know you are someone of significance. Some career women shy away from colors such as red, but it is a power color. When coupled with black, it is muted down a bit. The color combo in the shoe could be overwhelming, so a black pump will suffice. The morale of this story is, don’t be afraid to add pops of color to break up colors like black, brown, and charcoal gray. What do you think? What's your power color? |
