Whether you are waiting to hear back from the multiple companies you applied to, or waiting for the next-steps in your interview process; the waiting game is real. You have revamped resumes, created cover letters, you added your work history despite uploading your resume, and you smiled while speaking to get a step up. All that to continue to wait.
Unfortunately, this is the norm for now. Frustrating does not even describe how you feel during this process. Career expert Cidnye Work stated that it takes about three to six months to get a job, and a 8.3% chance of getting an interview for your initial application. Some good news is, it takes about one week to one week and a half to get a response from an organization that you have applied to. From what I see from my clients, I say to that; sometimes. For the postings that are genuine open roles, this is good news because you know in decent time where you stand. I know you have heard about postings that are actually not open positions, and that is true. There are postings for roles that the organization has no intention of budgeting. It is easier said than done, but don't freak out. You will get the job you want and deserve. Just understand that it does take time. Update you LinkedIn and edit your setting with open to work. You do this by going to your jobs in your LinkedIn account, click on "preferences", and then turn on "open to work". This will allow recruiters and hiring managers to find you for their open positions that align with your skills. I know it is tough out there, just know I am here to assist with Interview Preparation, Career Transition, Professional Development, and Outplacement.
