Did you set out to have a career in Real Estate?
Not at all. I loved media and majored in Media Arts with a minor in Political Science. I thought I would have a career in Public Affairs or something in the communications field. I use the skills I learned in school every day in Real Estate. I have to navigate with different personalities and situations, so my education has definitely prepared me for my career.
You are very involved with professional organizations within Real Estate as well, correct?
Yes. I am a member of the Atlanta Board of Realtors. We are involved in government affairs. We are very involved in tax issues and protecting rights of homeowners. I am also the current President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors.
What do you say to those who want to enter Real Estate and become a million dollar listing agent.
Like with anything, your network is your net worth. It definitely can happen and those of us who have been in this profession for a while have seen it. If a new agent has a network of friends that either want to sell or buy million dollar properties, then under the right circumstances, they can achieve that status.
Why do think more people are choosing Real Estate as a career?
The need for flexibility and freedom have attracted people to this field. That’s fine, but they have to remember that it is a business and with the reward of running a business comes risk. You may have come from a job where your taxes were deducted. They will have to take care of all that themselves. You can structure your business to fit your lifestyle, but you have to be able to support your client. You will have to amp up your networking Full Throttle.
You were awesome on House Hunters on HGTV. Would you like to do more of that?
It definitely is the direction I would like to go in now. There is so much work that goes on behind the scenes. I am fascinated by all the many moving parts.
